13 Distance Learning Scholarships for International Students
Technology has advanced to a point where remote/distance learning environments are not only more accessible but more engaging as well. I've stated in previous blogs that I'm a firm believer in and advocate of distance learning as I've been the beneficiary of such programs at the Baccalaureate and Masters levels.
While I advocate for distance learning as a graduate of online programs the availability and quality of these programs has markedly improved in a short period as both my bachelors experience went from a blended appraoch to fully online within the space of 10 years.
But what are the benefits, if any, of an online education?
I'll itemize the ones that stand out:
Possibly the first thing that comes to mind is not needing to relocate. You can study anywhere there is an internet connection. The cost of travel, living and boarding can be incredibly prohibitive. So being able to read for the degree of your choice from the location of your choosing provides a flexibility that traditional on campus degrees do not.
Online degrees tend to be less costly than their face to face counterparts.
More diversity in courses. Without the restrictions of having to be face to face online courses attract
Flexibility. Lessons are more often than not asynchronous which means they are delivered via text or video that can be watched at the convenience of the student. This provides students the opportunity for a better balance between studying and other facets of their life.
Now before listing our 10 programs let's start by explaining that most scholarship application deadlines fall between October and May. That's a busy time in teh school year and so getting the application process started early is a requirement for any student serious about getting a scholarship.
Please note, for the individual scholarships that have an Eligible Country list, those lists were accurate at the time of posting this blog and these lists can be fluid, so please be sure to check the website for changes to your country's eligibility.
Additionally, the list of scholarships is in alphabetical order only and so the order of these scholarships do not represent any other type of sorting.
